WHAT WE DO

Schools & Education

Explore and discover, grow your own, make a home or wild roam!

Spark that curiosity and use the outdoors as a playground for learning.  Our work with schools is hugely varied ... from dirty hands to healthy habitats!

Contact us

If you are a school or youth group we would love to hear from you. We can work with you to provide school visits, create a wildlife garden or trips out to one of 36 nature reserves.

Is this free?  Sometimes yes, but it does depend on timing. If we can’t offer you our services under the funding of current projects then we can direct you to potential funding pots or sponsorship through our (corporate) natural partners – it’s best just to ask!

Projects at and visits to your school

Explore and discover the wonders of nature without leaving school!

With a wide variety of workshops and activities, our experienced and inspiring community and education team will enhance learning through hands-on, practical experience, utilising whatever you have in your school grounds and linking it in to the curriculum.

Grow your own, make a home or wild roam: Want to improve your school for health and wellbeing, wildlife and education? Get involved in our Wildlife gardening project.

Teach someone to fish! Of course we can run sessions for your pupils! But would you prefer to bring that knowledge in-house? If so, we run teacher training sessions on:

  • How to create flourishing habitats for wildlife and children – and then use them!
  • Fruit and veg gardening: setting up and running successful organic school kitchen gardens.
  • ‘Natural play’ to improve children’s motivation, concentration, language, communication and physical skills
  • Outdoor learning through Citizen Science: get involved in real science and use it as a tool to increase your schools outdoor learning opportunities!

Design, build and construct! We can design wonderful spaces for people and wildlife in your school grounds. From consultation with pupils, staff and communities to helping architects achieve BREEAM status on new school builds, we have the practical experience and we know what works.

On our nature reserves

Explore and discover the wonders of nature where it thrives!

With a wide variety of workshops and activities, our experienced and inspiring education team will enhance learning through practical experiences such as pond dipping, bug hunting and rock pooling exploring your school's nearest nature reserve.
