About the event

Ness Owen is a published local poet with a deep knowledge of trees and their folklore, passed down through generations. Join us for a walk through Nantporth Nature Reserve, a serene woodland reserve nestled above the Menai Strait. As we stroll through this enchanting landscape, we’ll pause to enjoy some of Ness’s poetry and learn about the local wildlife and natural beauty of the reserve. Along the way, we’ll stop to relax and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Ness Owen is a poet and lecturer from Ynys Môn, whose poems have been widely published and broadcast on Radio 4. Naming the Trees (Arachne, 2025) is her third collection, following Mamiaith (Arachne, 2019) and Moon Jellyfish Can Barely Swim (Parthian, 2023). Ness won Greenpeace's 2022 Poem for the Planet and is co-editor of the forthcoming Afonydd: Poems for Welsh Rivers.

Her poem 'Penrhos' features in the spring issue of the North Wales Wildlife Trust members' magazine - why not become a member today and read more.

The walk will begin promptly at 11:00, so please arrive 15 minutes early.

The event organiser speaks conversational Welsh, please feel free to use Welsh or English during this event.
