In loving memory of Chris Gathercole (d. 2025)

Chris, who has died aged 87, became interested in the environment in the 1970s when his family lived in Conwy, and the Centre for Alternative Technology was starting up in Machynlleth.

Since then he became involved in recycling schemes, litter-picks, tree planting, forest gardening, permaculture, anti-fracking campaigns and renewable energy projects. He was an active member of the Green Party.

He was a supporter of North Wales Wildlife Trust’s aims and enjoyed visits to local reserves. When he moved to Snowdonia in 2019 he and his family created a wildflower meadow and planted a small native woodland on their land..
