Invasive Species Week: 16th-22nd May 2022
What is Invasive Species Week?
Invasive Species Week is a national annual event led by the GB Non-Native Species Secretariat aimed at raising awareness of the impacts of invasive species and celebrating action in preventing their spread. The Wales Resilient Ecological Network project is delighted to present the themes of the week and tell you all about how you can get involved!
Themes for Invasive Species Week
The week is made up of key themes to help identify the impacts invasive species have on a variety of habitats and how we can help prevent their spread.
Here are the key themes for each day:
- Monday 16th - introduction to invasive species and their impacts on the terrestrial environment (countryside)
- Tuesday 17th - impacts on the freshwater environment
- Wednesday 18th - impacts on the marine environment
- Thursday 19th - impacts on people and the urban environment
- Friday 20th - biosecurity: what does this mean, and what can people and organisations do to improve their biosecurity?
- Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd - events and activities to take part in
