The Brenig Osprey Project are taking part in the Raptor Monitoring Project and invited Charlotte to come to Brenig to give a talk about the project and how you can get involved.

Cudyll Cymru is a brand new BTO survey which monitors the populations and breeding productivity of five raptor species which are widespread in Wales: buzzard, kestrel, raven (corvid), red kite and sparrowhawk. Come and get involved! Don't worry, if you can't make this event there will be more throughout 2025.

Why do we need this project?

Cudyll Cymru aims to address the gaps in the current data provision for these iconic birds in Wales. To do this, we need to expand our volunteer network, which will increase the geographical coverage across Wales and the expertise within the volunteer team. That’s why there is such a big focus on training and upskilling in Cudyll Cymru.

We have developed Cudyll Cymru to be as accessible to everyone as possible: it's fully flexible to suit your availability and experience level. Time commitment varies, but the minimum amount of time required is just a few hours per month. We will provide training on all aspects of the project, from raptor identification and survey methodologies to choosing your survey area on our interactive map online and how best to record your data.
